Many of the tasks and events planned for the fiscal year were accomplished. The following is a partial list with comments concerning evaluation.

Back to school Bash: This event was lead by Terri Cunningham, a success, well appreciated.

Chili Feed: Don Sundeen provided gourmet chili for 120 with leftovers including condiments. His gift to the community is greatly appreciated. Amy Hindman provided great music for the evening. We had excellent volunteer participation.

Wine Tasting: provided by Hellem’s Winery. Sold out and well received.

Comedy night with Rob Stubbs: was well attended and several good sports were subject to hypnosis and their neighbors’ kidding.

Kids Christmas Party: Rescheduled as a New Years Party because of weather conditions. This event was lead by Sarah Southard. An awesome job under tough circumstances with about 50 kids attending.

Christmas Concert Refreshments: The SRC provided and served refreshments at the Chorus Christmas Concert.

Cookie Decorating: The cookie decorating class was well attended and appreciated.

Computer Classes: These classes are very popular. The wait list will require two or three repeat classes.

Bingo Night: A very popular event.

Community Garage Sale: The 3rd annual Community Garage Sale is scheduled for 2 days, June 7th and 8th. We anticipate good participation this year and have addressed the few problems that surfaced last year.

Family end of School Barbecue, is scheduled in June and is expected to be a popular event.

Additional activity of SRC included routine approvals of use of the Clubhouse for several Community Events, and preparation of budget proposals for F/Y 2009/2010.

As a result of SRC proposing a leash free dog park in the 2009/2010 Capital Budget, the SRC was tasked by the Board of Directors to assemble a subcommittee to research this type of facility and the feelings of the community regarding implementation in the Shelter Bay Community. The April meeting of the SRC included a discussion of the issues to be considered in the study, and solicited subcommittee participants from the group. Twenty-three issues were mentioned, which the acting Chair boiled down to ten major items for study. Five subcommittee members were recruited, and the Chair has the action to identify four more and assist the group to get organized. The thrust in member selection is to select people who are open minded, willing to consider the issues without prior bias.

Discussion in the following BOD meeting indicated that the scope of the study as assigned was to consider all recreational facility needs and potential locations for implementation. The committee as constituted is not up to that challenge, and it is suggested that a task force of the BOD would be more suitable.

Don Haas, Acting Chair
