The Social and Recreation Committee (SRC) began the year with very little continuity of committee participants. The SRC is a standing committee with nominally 7 members, two of which are assigned from the Board of Directors. A director, Don Haas, functioned as acting chair, and Steff Steinhorst participated as the other director. Several recruiting tactics resulted in adding three volunteer members over the next few months. SRC participants are as follows:
| Director |
Don Haas (acting Chair) |
| Director |
Steff Steinhorst |

Joey Carpenter |

Pat Elston |

Lou Grogan |

Many of the events planned for the fiscal year were accomplished. The following is a list with comments concerning significant features.
Back to school Bash: This event was lead by Terri Cunningham, a success, well appreciated.
Health Fair: A post mortem meeting after the fair critiqued the selection of participants, placement of the fair participants, unhealthful snacks menu, music planning (Jan O’Leary bailed us out on this one), and inadequate advertising. All in all, 94 flu shots were administered and 18 vendors participated. The event was useful.
Chili Feed: Don Sundeen provided gourmet chili for 120 with leftovers including condiments. His gift to the community is greatly appreciated. Amy Hindman provided great music for the event. People wanted to just hang around and listen. We had excellent volunteer participation.
Kids Christmas Party: This event was lead by Bailey Cunningham (age 13) with help from Terri Cunningham. An awesome job with about 75 kids attending.
Kids Valentine Party: Sandy Nason took this event on again as she has for several years. Another Thank You from the SRC to Sandy is well deserved.
Community Garage Sale: Thanks to Carolyn Patterson’s leadership, the 2nd annual Community Garage Sale is scheduled for 2 days, May 30 and June 1. We anticipate more participation this year, and have addressed the few problems that surfaced last year.
All events have been completed within budget and expenditures for the fiscal year will be below budget for the SRC, because of the lack of volunteer leaders to take on some of the events. However the SRC has reviewed and approved several Clubhouse uses that appear to profit the community with exercise and craft skills. In addition, two projects that have been promoted by the SRC have been worked:
Walking Path: This project was budgeted for this fiscal year but was stalled for lack of useable specifications and an overall design. The assistance of retired architect, Ron Jones, has been obtained to provide overall planning of the route of the path and some concepts for path construction in the field behind the tennis courts that will also meet the need to exclude vehicular traffic from the area and accommodate the emergency heliport. The project will probable be phased to spread the considerable costs over multiple years.
Sport Court: A work statement and request for bid for general contractor work to complete the Sport Court were created. One General Contactor Bid the job and has been accepted by the BOD. Work should be completed in the month of May or early June, depending on getting some decent weather. The project is projected to come in well below the approved budget. Part of the work is planned to be performed by SB maintenance staff. The volunteer Project Leader is Don Haas. The contract is managed by Judy Grosvenor.
BBQ Upgrade: A plan has been sketched out for increasing the counter space and making the electrical power outlets more accessible in the barbeque facility. Because of the uncertainty of who really controls this facility, our work will be limited to defining an approach and providing an estimate of cost for consideration. Much of the labor can be volunteered. The leader of this effort is Joey Carpenter.
Additional activity of SRC included routine approvals of use of the Clubhouse for several Community Events, and preparation of budget proposals for F/Y 2008/2009.
