~ Dock Notes ~ Brad and the Wife flew the coop for a few days and weren’t available to do “Dock Notes” this month. Feel like an early spring to you? It obviously did to Brad, as he turned the water back on at the docks on the 21st of January! First time in marina history! If temperatures dip down to freezing again, the water will be turned off immediately. Again, we remind you to tie your boat securely during this time of year. Even though it’s not freezing out, there is plenty of wind. Boats that are loosely tied move around quite a bit when the winds pick up, creating excessive stress on the docks and cleats. Brad has observed loose boats placing enormous loads on the docks, lines, and cleats when the lines snap tight during a gust. If you think something may have blown off your boat check with the office, as several items are retrieved from our waters. I have already heard from one resident of a private dock who grabbed a large white cooler from the water near his dock. Missing one? Call the office at 360-466-3805 for its location. Also, Dock box lids need to be secured with strong hinges and hasps. It is very important that your emergency contact card is clearly visible from the dock and that the ink has not faded. If you do not have one, or it is no longer legible, please obtain a new one from the office or call, and we’ll mail it out. If you have someone looking after your boat while you are away please display that person’s name and phone number in your window. Wishing you smooth waters and sunny days… Britt
