NEWSLETTER

Additional members of the Community signed up for electronic receipt of the Newsletter. The Newsletter gets on our website approximately 5-7 days prior to the mailed copy. In addition it is in color and can easily be printed from your home computer. Accessing the internet for receipt of your newsletter saves the community money in printing and postage.

If you have access to a computer and wish to sign up for receipt via your computer, contact Gail at gits380sl@aol.com and she will arrange for this service. Provide Gail with your email address and you will be notified when the newsletter is online and ready for your access.

The Committee’s desire to have the Shelter Bay Newsletter a source of board and community news, with advertising being secondary, seems to be popular with the community as we have heard very favorable comments and our advertisers are pleased with the results. Most have remained as long term advertisers. The budget for the Committee shows a positive result of the advertising placed in the newsletter. Gail Taylor, with assistance from our Community Bookkeeper, Katy Brady Good, is to be credited for keeping the billings and the advertising information current. Claudia Young, our Production Editor is responsible for placement of the articles and advertisements, and continues to do an outstanding job in making the newsletter “easy on the eye”.

Thanks to Judy Grosvenor, Manager of Shelter Bay, we have added two additional monthly articles to our newsletter this year, the “Shelter Bay Blotter” and “On the Company Front”.  These articles have received many accolades.  Thank you, Judy for these additions.

We continue to work on improvements to the Newsletter and add articles of interest to the Community. If you have suggestions, please contact Gail Taylor.

WEBSITE

Website activity for FY 2008-09:

Don Monroe has continued to make improvements to the website over the last year. We have re-instated the Weather Channel sticky on the home page (lost during the switch to HostMonster in March 2008). Similarly, we have put back a map on the Directions page (also lost during the switch). We have added Part II of the Rules and Regulations and recently installed software that will permit online surveys. This is software offered as part of the HostMonster package. We have also discovered how to restrict access to any parts of the site deemed by the board to be only appropriate to Shelter Bay Community members. This would require the assignment of passwords to members. Other improvements have centered on facilitating navigation on the website for the user.

We have had a total of 24,139 visits during our first 12 months on HostMonster, an average of 2,012 per month (April 2008-March 2009).
