GENERAL CLUB INFORMATION
Shelter Bay Book Club meets on
the third Monday of the month from September through May. Meetings are
held in members homes at 1:30 in the afternoon and usually start with a
general introduction of ourselves to and welcoming of new people. At
this time often we share titles of books that we have read and enjoyed
recently or perhaps we will each answer a question, such as, "How did
you get hooked on reading?"
Programs differ from month to month
depending on the presenter. Often we all read the same book and the
presenter leads the discussion. Other presenters have chosen to give a
book report or to focus on all of the works of a particular author or
on several books related to a specific theme. A recurring theme for the
group has been the middle east and our discussions of related books
have helped us to better understand what is happening there and why.
Following
the program the group adjourns for tea, coffee and cookies and more
conversation. New members are always welcome to attend.
